Featured Project: Mossi Microgreens

A few years ago I was contacted by an adorable Microgreen farmer in Northern Utah to create a logo for their business of selling microgreens. Microgreens are a small green that hosts a multitude of health benefits. I’d like to republish this on my blog because I changed websites, and want to keep this post alive because I loved this project. Larissa from Mossi Microgreens was so fun to work with. She gave me a lot of creative freedom which is always so amazing and fun! I started out with a few rough design options to get a feel for the direction that she wanted to take. You can see those below:

After looking over the options from round 1, Larissa decided that she liked the lettering from option 3, and the microgreen illustration from option 4. She also provided some helpful images for what she wanted the shape of the microgreen illustration to be. The second round was an interesting challenge to marry the thin illustration style that she liked from the previous round with the more bold lettering from option 3. In the end I think that we ended up with some really great options! Ultimately she went with option 1 from the second round of design comps. The main logo being the horizontal format with the microgreen on the side of the lettering. I love the balance that that particular logo has and I think she chose well.

For the next round of design work, we decided on some color options and decided how color could be integrated into the logo design. I feel it is important to design a logo in black and white first, and then integrate color. There are so many use cases for a black and white logo, so having both options is wonderful for all cases that a logo can be used.

Voilà! We landed at the final logo design (100% hand lettered my moi!), with black + white and color options, some lovely illustrative icons, and color choices to use for her branding. She did not want a full branding guide, but the option is always there if her company grows to needing a full branding guide with fonts/images/vibe etc. For now this works great for her company to use at farmers markets and shows, and I’m thrilled with how it turned out! Working with lovely clients like Mossi Microgreens is always a dream.

“I struggled for months at the beginning of my business to come up with a logo that I loved. I worked with various websites and programs designed to create business logos but I was never able to come up with one that I loved. A friend of mine referred me to Stephanie who has an eye for design and detail. She created a beautiful hand-lettered logo for my business that I am continually complimented on. Stephanie is very easy to work with and is someone you can trust to create the perfect brand for your business. ”
